Theography is the science and practise of drawing gods. The Eight Gods manifest themselves most commonly as cartoons, doodles or graffiti, and everyone who draws the gods does so with a unique, personalised way. This has led to some interest in what exactly happens when almighty beings from the spirit world come into our reality in the form of cartoons. Do the differences between the versions carry some particular significance? Is there one 'right' way to draw the gods? Why do these discepancies occur?

In a more universal sense, theography can refer to the study of visual representations of divine beings across all religions and civilisations. The Native Americans drew gods in the form of beavers and crows, indicating their conception of the importance of the natural, animal world. Michaelangelo drew the Christian god as a muscular old man with a flowing beard, a reflection of the more humanist character of Renaissance Europe, valuing the human mind and body highest of all. The Hindus draw extra limbs on their gods to show that they have superpowers. The study of portrayals of the divine is an interesting indicator of social, philosophical and aesthetic attitudes, as well as being a branch of sociopharmacology.
