Magical power is acknowledged by cultivating and refining self-awareness, which necessarily means awareness of all creation (as I and all are one). When at one with this endless moment of existence that is now, human psyche seems endowed with, amongst infinite other attributes, an ability to imbue spoons holiness, or transcending significance. Other than holy spoons, they might include any objects, shapes, numbers, colours, people& animals, the weather(s), plants and planets. Entering into this world of symbolism, archetypes seem to allow for the communication and/or entry into dialog of these forces. Whether this plane of existence be mystical, magical, genuine or illusory, it is the process by which it is achieved that is the area of interest. This process goes by the name of alchemy, and having briefly described it thus, I might now make the comparison with metacommentology, to show how alchemy is the fulfillment of this key element of the Ordo Commenti Ultimati has reached. When metacommentology (Conscious Awareness commenting on itself) realises its power in the mythical realm (its power to transcend objects or what have you), it is be alchemy.
This article was written while listening to Religious Ceremony by mystic, alchemist and composer G.I. Gurdjieff, performed by Keith Jarrett. As i listen, i hear perfect yet ever surprising structure, at times solemn, at times sublime, it grows contemplative to grave followed by light, delicate, unravelling into a rising rush, and BAM, ecstasy out of the Æther surges through the physical body, a deep pain sounds overcome by profound revelation, the listener is then released into the stillness of mind, leaving him at one with himself, and psyched with all that is. The song also accounts for the following focus on ceremony and, it could be hoped, might be part of a Prenaissance of ritual in the Ordo Commenti Ultimi.
I propose a symposium to be held which could enable the exchange of meaning (as opposed to knowledge) gleamed by adherents of the mystical Order of the Ultimate Comment thus far. The group could channel power through and to each other in ceremonies. These ceremonies would have the potential to develop into rituals, which both expand and refine over time, which gives them a fluidity and tweakability lost in the old faiths. This evolutionary power of our Myth, combined with the heightened personal meaning inherent in a system created by it’s members, would allow for the growth of ceremonies into ritual, ideas into teachings and symbols into mythology, (the latter two seem already quite developed in the Ultimate Comment, however the evolution of all three could have been greatly stunted by the lack of formal/ritual gatherings and symposia to date). The inherent democracy in an Order created and ruled by its members could be hoped to provide a uniquely satisfying experience, as all would be allowed propose new ideas, ceremonies and symbols, their reform, and have a say in what is decided. Research into an appropriate mechanism through which decisions are passed is essential. A form of consensus decision-making would be ideal, but may not be adequate, or even necessary in some cases, such as when all but a couple wish to perform a ceremony or action which needn’t be taken part in by those who don’t wish to.
However, the premise of a genuinely evolutionary system implies nothing to be fixed/static/stagnant. It is for this reason that I propose a radical altering in how we understand our mythology.
I propose that our Order replace its 8 fixed beliefs with 8 evolving ideas. The secrets would thus have the capacity to evolve and refine over time. On first consideration, this might appear to be straying from our origins. However, a closer examination reveals that this was in fact the obvious course of action to take when we were performing our theological gymnastics while attempting to unify the 8 secrets with the infinite secrets which was approaching the farcical complexity of the explanation of the trinity (this discussion was the last official gathering in then UltCom headquarters, Conor’s gaf)
This is a beautifully neat and succinct solution to the problem of the 8th/∞ secret, as well as conforming to the rule of the simplest explanation being the best. It also accounts the for the slowness in discovery of our much debated 8th Secret, which, lets admit, we were reluctant to find, due to a sense of the looming finality of the discovery of all 8 secrets being discovered. In this new perspective however, the preliminary 8 discoveries, as the roots, remain holy, without claiming to be wholly holy as it were.
As opposed to the infinite secrets being added on in decreasing significance, the ever updating secrets would be revealed through adherents in periods of mystical illumination and inspiration and then diffused to others. I believe this illumination to remain true, in whole and in part, to the root ideas and core practices of the Ultimate Comment, that it improves our understanding of the original framework of 8 secrets, while maintaining it’s recent acquisition as it were, of ∞ secrets, which will all be contained within the 8.
Lastly, a question I asked my Arcturian self about, on the meaning of the 8th secret, or what I refer to as God in the presence of my fellow theologians:
How can the ideas of the oneness of God be reconciled with those of the infinitude of God?
As God is at once: Creator and Creation, Psyche and cosmos: All creation is in a grain of sand just as the grain is part of all creation: Infinite possibilities arise out of Wholly Oneness out of infinite impossibility. Even language that fragments God, is part of Him, and can liberate and ensnare it's user in equal part.
An Arcturian perspective on what might be considered to be reality:
What is unreal? All facts, which are conjectures, metaphors and maps based on what we can so far pin down in physical reality with our limiting if evolving paradigms allow, and which always will be updated and change with new understandings of reality. While useful tools with which to order the world, they castrate attempts to understand it's meaning. For example, the very fact of the recent explosion, at least in my reality tunnel, of the metacomment and how the mutual understanding that it's use realises itself in a compassion for all Creation, which is I. While this may liberate us from ego-centred dog eat dog mentality, far less has been talked about what could be to follow. Is this 8th secret the Ultimate Revelation? What future shall we create in this new paradigm, and what will it be like when critical mass is reached? Apparently 1.5% of 6,602,224,175 , that's less than a 100million, to fully understand the 8th Secret. They can achieve this through whatever combination of the new and emerging perspectives. For example, many are now realising the implications of quantum physics and how utterly ridiculous our current structures of social reproduction are, civilisation itself seems farcical. These new perspectives are perhaps the greatest threat to those in power, let's hope they don't catch on to us, but the masses do. This can easily be achieved in putting into practice are plans of late - Operation Spitfire, a nice example of how fucking with people's heads in imaginary and unexpected ways, social norms are broken down in the direct vicinity and thus people generate freedom they previously had not been exercising and must creatively respond and interact with the mission. It could be hoped that The Dimensional Transfunctioner would transmit this breakdown in social norms on a larger scale, firstly because of all the realities it contains, and secondly because their shimmering emanations can be transmitted in the form of media, people might phone in and respond to it , the event would provide a basis for ceremonies to be remembered in our symposia. it may be an integral feature of our Zine, and it might also be much fun for all involved, and for all who enter the "zone of social break-down" in which freedom, creative interaction, and communication shall be generated in society's stead. At least there's part the Myth. Other ideas such as Special-Op Lego in the park, a repeat of last years successful and thoroughly enjoyable shamanic trance at Dundum, the unleashing of a giant mandala down the front of Stephen's Green Shopping Centre, and a repeat attempt to throw a party on the luas, this tim dressed as clowns/pirates/zombies juggling, playing music and drums, singing, sax, party luck bags of ultcom info, Balloons, poppers, Everything! Through breaking all the rules, but none of the laws, we shall be pursing are vision of society in peaceful and creative ways, always including and engaging all participants (i.e. witnesses) of our pranks.
What is real? Mystical symbols that are forged by the human psyche - These provide truth, meaning and revelation as well as a means of communicating with other beings in the universe, and remain useful only so far as you realise them to be of your own creation.
