Meta model

The meta model

The meta model is a collection of thirteen linguistic techniques used to go from generalities to specifics. It was modelled from Virginia Satir by John Grinder and Richard Bandler. It may be seen as the opposite of the Milton model. The techniques are

• Question deletions, things that are left out of sentences. Generally just ask people to be more specific.
• Question false comparatives.
• Question judgements
• Question unspecified referential index. (e.g. "The patriotic archbishop of Canterbury found it advisable" "Found what?" said the Duck. "Found it," the Mouse replied, rather crossly. "Of course you know what 'it' means." "I know what 'it' means well enough, when I find a thing," said the Duck. "It's generally a frog, or a worm.")
• Question unspecified verbs
• Question mind reading
• Question nominalizations (i.e. verbs that have been turned into nouns).
• Question false causation
• Question complex equivalence
• Question presuppositions
• Question universals
• Question modal operators of possibility
• Question modal operators of necessity

Use the meta model mercilessly on hippies, anarchists, conservatives, politicos and idealogues of all kinds. Such people have gotten themselves real deep into a belief structure and glossed over or suppressed the holes in it. The meta model will draw attention to these flaws.

The meta model is useful for installing states in people.
