Individuals which can be seen around the streets of (mainly) Dublin and Ireland with a strict 'uniform' of sports runners, tracksuits, stripy t-shirts, and in recent times, effeminately coloured (pink or baby blue) woolen jumpers. They are the Irish equivalent of their English 'Chav' counterparts. They are short-tempered, loud, often on the offensive. They enjoy perfecting spitting methods and going to Spirit, a nightclub on Abbey Street in Dublin. Contrary to popular belief, scangers are humans, with real emotions, and every once in a while, you may encounter a scanger who is willing to communicate without fear of being ridiculed from other scangers, and will appear to be a 'nice' person.
