Salvia Divinorum

From The Maze Where Realities Converge - the psychedelic encyclopedia of reality from The Ultimate Comment

Jump to: navigation, search

Literally meaning Diviner's Sage, commonly referred to as 'Salvia'.

Salvia divinorum is a herb which when smoked or absorbed sublingually provokes extremely intense psychedelic effects. It has been used for many centuries as part of shamanic and tribal rituals and is now procured in the form of a legal high which can be purchased in most good head shops.

It usually comes in a vial in the form of shredded Salvia leaves, or Salvia leaves dipped in an extract of the active chemical; Salvinorin-A, sold by strength, for example, "10X" extract is salvia dipped in extract refined to 9 times it's usual strength, giving a total strength of 10 times the normal amount of salvinorin.

Salvia is unique in that it is a diterpene, and the only psychoactive chemical of this particular class.
Its effects are often weak or even un-noticable for first time users; it may have a reverse tolerance effect, as people notice its effects more the more they try it.

Effects

Its effects include total insanity, unbelievable hallucinations and absurd delusions, including the belief that the universe is part of someone's face, or that you are a pencil. There is a strong distortion of space and dimensionality, with people occasionally visiting entirely different universes with different physical laws. Imagine being a living inanimate object experiencing itself for the first time. It is the pharmacological equivalent of the Dimensional Transfunctioner. Some users forget that they have taken the drugs and may believe that reality has been permanently altered, or even forget that they themselves or reality exists. Many users report that the experience feels many times more intense than LSD-25, normally the benchmark for psychedelic strength. Although highly intense, these effects rarely last more than a few minutes, often only a few seconds. Some users report a sensation of being pulled by a force which can cause the extremely insane effect of walking or running in impossible directions.
