Lost is a television show about genetic engineering and numerology and Atlantis and electromagnetism and destiny and conspiracies and aliens and Flann O'Brien and the number 8 and the apocalypse and death and time travel and synchronicity and visions and psychological experiments and immortality and the I-Ching and Baba Ram Dass and quantum mechanics. More importantly, it's about how all these are interconnected There are many so parallels and Insane Meaningful Coincidences linking Lost to The Ultimate Comment it's ridiculous.

• Most obviously, Lost is about a bunch of mysterious shit going down, and it is hinted that there is a single grand explanation for it all. The characters are trying to find the secret of the island in the same way that we are trying to find the secret of the universe.
• The secret of the island has something to do with 'The Dharma Initiative'. Our psychedelic cult could be described as a dharma initiative.
• Lost, like The Ultimate Comment, is a sprawling meme that spans several media, as discussed on our forums
• Cryptozoology
• The number 8 (and 108) features prominently, and has something to do with the secret of the island.
• In both Lost and The Ultimate Comment, octagons, the eight trigrams and question marks are used as symbols of something important and mysterious. Compare, for example, this map from Lost with the octagon on the front of this Ultimate Comment leaflet
• There are way more parallels, several in each episode, but cataloging them would be a Herculean task, and everyone got bored of Lost after season 2.

Why?: Because we're only exploring his secret now. Also, he's onto something.

• Jack = A Magical Trumpet Called Bill

Why?: Because he travels between dimensions, spewing insanity

• Hurley = Thomas the Walking Head.

Because he kind of looks like a giant walking head.
