John Lilly was a consciousness researcher and all-round insaner. He is known for his advocacy of ketamine and his research with sensory deprivation. He wrote Programming and Metaprogramming in the Human Biocomputer.
He was a pioneer in the insane and deadly field of inter-species communication. He believed dolphins, and other cetaceans, to be as intelligent as humans after studying their communication and learning how to talk to them. He gave dolphins LSD in an effort to better understand and communicate with them. He lobbied the U.N. to recognise the cetacean nation.
His mates included Albert Hofmann and Timothy Leary.
