Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (HPPD) is a disorder experienced by some users of psychoactive drugs, particularly psychedelics and cannabis. It is often confused with "LSD Flashbacks", which are considered probably to be a psychological phenomenon. There is no known cure for HPPD, but according to its discoverer, Dr. Henry Abraham, it simply "goes away" in 50% of cases. Xanax and other barbituates tend to reduce HPPD in some cases, but are not useful for long-term treatment because of addiction potential.
