Contrary to popular belief, cigarettes (along with guns) are mankind's greatest invention! They taste good and make you smell and look cool.

Smoking tobacco became popular around the 11th century around areas such as South America. By the 16th/17th century it had become popular in England, smoked mainly in pipes. The early 20th century saw smoking to become a common activity. 4.4 billion cigarettes were sold in the U.S. alone in 1901.

Today, smoking is seen as almost anti-social behaviour. In Dublin, hometown to many Commenteers, the only place one can smoke is outdoors, or in sound people's abodes.

Cigarettes also make you feel good. They are highly desirable (to smokers) whilst under the influence of an intoxicant like alcohol or psychedelics and can often calm an individual to the extent of avoiding a mental catastrophe.
