05/11/2006: "Mystery Plaque Mystery Deepens"

DUBLIN-The creators of the mysterious plaque on O'Connell bridge have released a video of them placing the plaque in the bridge, as well as some clues as to the meaning of the plaque, which has the whole country curious. Apparently the plaque has been there for several months, and photographs exist of it that were taken in February. The plaque fills the hole left by the sign for the Millenium Clock ("Time in the Slime"), and the perpetrators apparently did little damage to the bridge by placing it there, into a hole previously filled with crisp packets and cigarette butts. It commemorate the non-existent "Fr. Pat Noise" who died under mysterious circumstances when his carriage plunged into the Liffey in 1919.
The latest press release contained a video of two pranksters putting the plaque in the bridge, in the middle of the day, not being questioned by anyone. We are unable to obtain a copy of this video as yet, however we will query the RTÉ newsroom to see if it is possible. The legends also claimed that "Fr. Pat Noise" is a pun on "Pater Noster", the face on the plaque is of a living person, and the HSTI who, according to the plaque, it was erected by, is not a deliberate anagram of "sh*t".
