Noam Chomsky, the linguist and thinker, is giving three talks in UCD next week:
Tuesday, January 17th, 7p.m., O'Reilly Hall - 'Democracy Promotion: Reflections on intellectuals and the state'
Thursday, January 19th, 7p.m., O'Reilly Hall - 'Stark, Dreadful, Inescapable: The Question of Survival'
Friday, January 20th, 4:30p.m., O'Reilly Hall - 'Biolinguistic Explorations: Design, Development, Evolution'
Noam Chomsky is professor emeritus of linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the university where the future is being invented. He is known for his defense of the universal grammar hypothesis, his criticism of B.F. Skinner's behaviourist theories of language, and his formulation of generative grammar theory.
NOTE THAT THE LOCATION OF THE SECOND AND THIRD TALKS HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM THEATRE L TO THE O'REILLY HALL. DOORS WILL OPEN FOR ALL TALKS ONE HOUR BEFORE THE SCHEDULED START TIME. THE LEVEL OF INTEREST IS HIGH, SO GET THERE EARLY TO ENSURE A PLACE.
